Exploring our playground habitat

Today we all went outside to explore the living things that we have in our playground habitat.  We were looking for flowering plants, trees and living creatures.  We used a range of information texts to identify what we found.

Leeds United

Everyone had great fun today with the Leeds United academy players.  The focus was on dribbling this week so we did a number of drills and also playing a 6 a side game.  I bet you can't wait until next week.

Fantastic hats

The last learning log homework was to make a hat that represented a fantasy character.  I want to say a huge thank you to all the grown ups and children that put so much effort into their learning log homework to come up with such amazing creations.  It meant that our Mad Hatter's tea party on the last day of term was a brilliant success.  The children showed each other their hats and we all guessed the character they were representing.  We then has a scrumptious tea and played party games.

Look out for more pictures of the party when I work out how to get them off the I pad!!!

Moving pictures

Have a look at our fabulous moving pictures.  We based the picture on our topic story of Alice in Wonderland and the children had some really original ideas for characters and backgrounds.

The Easter story

As well as reading and ordering the events of the Easter story this year,  Year 1 made a moving picture of Jesus rising from his tomb.  We had all made moving pictures earlier in the term so we were able to practise our skills in our RE lesson.  Look at the great results below.

Easter Activities

Before we broke up for the Easter holidays we all took part in an egg rolling championship.  We found out that egg rolling is a traditional British activity.  The rolling egg symbolises the stone rolling away from Jesus' tomb when Christian's believe that he rose from the dead.  We had loads of fun and only a couple of smashed eggs!  When we got back to school we all wrote a recount of our egg rolling experiences some of which are now displayed in the classroom.

You can see another Easter activity in the pictures below. We all made Easter nests out of dough and a range of  materials. We then wrote descriptions of our nests seeing if we could use VCOP in our writing.
